THE BORODIN QUARTET 75th ANNIVERSARY TOUR
Sunday, November 3, 2019 at 4 pm
FIU Wertheim Concert Hall, 10910 SW 17th St., Miami, FL 33199
Program: The Borodin Quartet marks its 75th Anniversary with a special MIAMI performance as part of its European and American celebratory tour. In the midst of appearances ranging from London’s Wigmore Hall, Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, Montreal’s Pro Musica Society, and New York’s lionized 92 Street Y, the Quartet appears as part of the FOMC’s 2019-2020 season at the Wertheim Performing Arts Center.
The Borodin Quartet is a string ensemble celebrated for its insight and authority in the chamber music repertoire. Revered for its searching performances of Beethoven and Shostakovich, the Quartet is equally at home in music ranging from Mozart to Stravinsky.
For this program the Quartet will perform Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 1 in F Major and two works by Shostakovich, Elegie and String Quartet No. 3 in F major.
Since 1955, the Friends of Chamber Music of Miami, Inc. (FOCM) has been presenting concerts of chamber music performed by the world’s greatest chamber ensembles.
